Joshua C. Felver, PhD, ABPP (pronouns he/him/his) is an Extension Associate of the K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Institute (YTI) on Employment and Disability and a Visiting Scholar of the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research at Cornell University. He supports the NYS Education Department’s Special Education Technical Assistance Partnership for Data (TAP for Data), a professional development initiative to support specialists within the NYS Office of Special Education Educational Partnership. He is highly interested in statewide initiatives to support best-practices in K-12 school settings to promote health for students and school personnel.
Dr. Felver is a NYS licensed psychologist with Board Certification in School Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). As a clinician, he has expertise in evidence-based intervention, assessment, and consultation for children and adolescents with psychiatric and developmental disabilities, and in mindfulness-based programming for youth and adults. As a university educator, he has experience as Director of Clinical Training for an APA-accredited graduate training program, and undergraduate and graduate instruction for courses such as: community-based research; school-based mental health; service learning; child and adolescent therapy; and supervision of practicum/externships/internship experiences.
Dr. Felver’s programmatic research involves developing, implementing, and exploring biomechanisms of mindfulness-based programs in school and community settings to address health disparities in diverse and at-risk populations. His work has been funded by federal and foundational agencies, he is the author/co-author of over 35 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on mindfulness and contemplative practices, and he is the co-author of the book Mindfulness in the Classroom that describes the evidence-based program Soles of the Feet.
