Transit Research & Accessibility Center (TRAC)

Overview

Despite transportation providers’ efforts, people with disabilities continue to experience significant barriers to reliable, accessible public transportation. The goal of the TRAC is to enhance community participation of people with disabilities in the Capital District Area, through improved access to public, fixed-route bus services.

Project Activities

  • Develop a Regional Accessibility Transit Evaluation (RATE) Training and online curriculum to educate individuals with disabilities and other stakeholders on how to conduct evaluations on the essential elements of accessible fixed route transportation.
  • Create a regional public transit rating database and mobile application for users of fixed route public transportation to evaluate the service.
  • Engage in dialogue with public transportation providers to share data collected from evaluator reviews and provide suggestions for improving accessibility and usability of services.
